2015 Bluebonnet Photos!

There are lots of little things I just love about Texas. One of them is bluebonnets. And bluebonnet photos! The bluebonnets recently started blooming, so we headed out to take some photos one day last week. We found a great spot just 15 minutes from our house, set up our tripod, and snapped a few photos! 

In the interest of presenting a realistic picture of our life, I'll just leave this photo here as well...

That's what we get for trying to take pictures too close to bedtime! Don't worry... Connor was quickly whisked away to his car seat, where he giggled at me every time I asked "didn't you just love taking bluebonnet photos, Connor?" Hehe. 

Pumpkin Patch 2014!

While my sister was in town for Connor's baby shower, we squeezed in our annual trip to the pumpkin patch!

We couldn't resist taking a few cheesy pregnancy/pumpkin photos... :)

We rode the hayride and looked all over for the perfect pumpkins!

And my sister, Karoline, is pretty cute too. :)

Next year we'll have a little baby with us at the pumpkin patch!

South Padre Island 2014

Somehow our annual South Padre Island trip this year got a little bit lost in the early pregnancy fog of being sick and exhausted, and I never blogged about it! For the sake of documentation and memories, here's a little recap of our 2014 trip to South Padre Island!

We spent lots and lots of time on the beach...

Those of us who aren't pregnant or underage enjoyed cold adult beverages at our favorite on-the-beach restaurant...

Our trip was over July 4th weekend this year, so we did something new and went on a boat cruise to watch the sunset, see the dolphins, and watch fireworks in the bay!

We drove out to the end of the island to see the sand dunes and have the annual race to the top of a big, big dune. :)

The general consensus of the group was that racing up a steep dune wasn't proper pregnant lady behavior, so I went ahead to the top and took pictures instead!

Karoline was the big winner... perhaps the rest of us are getting old? :)

We enjoyed a lovely evening hanging out on the beach on the far end of the island (and of course, having a little photo shoot with my dancer sister, Kristen) and grilling burgers for dinner...

Things I Never Blogged About - Part 3

Here are another three things I totally forgot to blog about!

1. Recreated Brothers Photo

Jeff took this photo with his mom and brothers when he was little (he's on the top left):

Jeff's mom had the bright idea that we should recreate the photo and give it to Jeff's dad for his birthday, so we did! We were laughing so hard while we took the photos... I had to really concentrate to get some that weren't blurry! Haha.

Here's the finished product:

2. Miniature Parfaits!

My parents gave me a set of mini parfait dishes (complete with tiny spoons!) for Christmas, and they are so fun! Here are my favorite two parfaits to make in them so far...

Lemon Berry Parfaits - layer pound cake, lemon curd, strawberries, and fresh whipped cream

S'Mores Parfaits - layer chocolate pudding, crumbled graham crackers, and marshmallows

To make the s'mores ones extra-special, I like to toast the marshmallows on top with my creme brulee torch. :)

4. The Humble Rodeo!

The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is a big deal around here. It's a BIG production. But here in our sweet little suburb of Humble, we have our own (slightly smaller) rodeo that's just as fun (and much less expensive, and everyone has great seats)!

We've never been to the Humble Rodeo before, but we went this year with two other couples. There were all the same rodeo events as the regular big rodeo, and Kevin Fowler did a concert, and it was a great time!
