Fightin' Texas Aggie Yell Practice!

This post is a little outdated because it took me a while to figure out the software for my new Flip camera, but let's talk about Texas A&M for a bit!

The Aggies came to Houston for their bowl game on New Year's Eve, so they had a Midnight Yell Practice the night before the game in Houston! I hadn't been to a Midnight Yell since I graduated, so I was pretty excited to go to the Houston one before the bowl game.

It was so fun to go with my parents (Dad's a fellow A&M alum) and Karoline (it was her first-ever Yell Practice, and she was pretty excited!).

Jeff proudly puts on his maroon shirt every now and then for me. He's pretty good at being married to an Aggie... he even knows the words to the War Hymn and most of the yells!

Yell Practice is an A&M tradition - the night before every football game, Aggies gather at midnight to practice all the yells (like coordinated cheers) that they'll do the next day at the game.

The Yell Leaders (juniors and seniors who are elected to the position) lead all the yells with hand motions so the whole crowd is synchronized. At Yell Practice, they tell funny little stories (centering around how awful the other team is). Then, we practice all the yells, we take a minute to turn the lights off and kiss our dates (Jeff's favorite part), we sing the War Hymn and the Spirit of Aggieland, and we go home.
