1) Mimi!
Mimi is my parents' dog. She's 16 years old, completely deaf, and about 90% blind (yes, that's a HUGE cataract in the photo above). We got her when I was in first grade. My parents were out of down for a few days, so Jeff and I got to keep little Mimi! Poor thing... she was so confused being at our house. For the first couple of hours after we got home, she just wandered around the house really slowly. I think she was trying to get her bearings and figure out where she could walk without running into things.
She completely wore herself out! Too cute.
To be honest, I was a little afraid she had just died there by our barstools. But she was just so sleepy!
It ended up working out okay... I just kept carrying her around with me whenever I switched rooms, and she was content to just be wherever I was. So adorable!
I want a dog so bad... it was so nice to not be all alone in the house when I was at home studying on Friday! Plus... she's just so cute!
She was hanging out with me while I studied!
2) How Many Dollars Does It Take to Change a Light Bulb?
When one of the light bulbs in our living room ceiling fan burned out, we went and bought a pack of light bulbs to replace it. When we went to change it, there was a big problem... the ceiling fan in our two-story living room is way, way too high to reach. We tried to be creative and think of some solution (Put a barstool on the coffee table and stand on it? Put me on Jeff's shoulders?), but in the end... we just needed a ladder.
We briefly considered borrowing a ladder from one of our parents, but honestly... who wants to call their parents every time the ceiling fan needs a new light bulb? I mean... there are four of them up there! So, we had to buy a ladder. Just to change one little light bulb!
Jeff did his research and went around to check prices at four different stores. He ended up buying one at Wal-Mart, where he saved another $40 by getting them to match the Amazon.com price! Well done, husband.
We finally moved the couch out of the way and set up the ladder this weekend so Jeff could change the light bulb.
3) Cooking!
I actually got to bake and cook quite a bit this weekend. My definition of happiness: four pots on the stove at once and a cute husband that brings you a rum & coke because it's finally Friday and he knows you had a rough week.
Fully occupied stove!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Anyone else have an old, blind, deaf dog? Do you get unreasonably excited when your stove is full of pots? Please tell me we're not the only ones who bought a ladder just to change a light bulb...
Ok, this made me laugh because we are so close to buying an extra tall ladder ourselves so we can change our outdoor porch light. :) Glad you got to do some cooking and enjoy time with an old dog (they are the best).
ReplyDeletei didn't know walmart would match amazon's prices! i'll definitely have to keep that in mind.
